How the auto-link & edit button works
- Click Auto-link & edit on any card.
- The tool reads the whole page. It scans everywhere — Meaning, Examples, Translation, Etymology, any section — except headline text and the References (ᱥᱟᱹᱠᱷᱭᱟᱹᱛ) section.
-
Every Santali (Ol Chiki) word or phrase that already has its own
article on this wiki gets wrapped in
[[double brackets]]— the tool always prefers the longest run of consecutive words that has an article, falling back to a single word only when no longer phrase matches. -
Every word or phrase in another script — English, Odia, Bangla,
Hindi, Assamese, Nepali, and more — is checked against its
respective sister Wiktionary, longest phrase first, and linked as
[[:lang:word|word]]if a matching article is found. An explicit label right before it, likeᱦᱤᱱᱫᱤ:orNepali:, pins the check to that exact language instead of guessing from the script alone — useful since Hindi, Nepali, Marathi, and Sanskrit all share the same script. If nothing matches, it's left as plain text. - If anything was linked, a tracking category is added so the edit is easy to find later; the page's first-letter category is also added if it's missing.
- One dialog opens with the full updated page. Click Copy & open editor — this copies the text and opens the edit page in one click, and the dialog closes itself. In the editor, press Ctrl/Cmd+A then paste to replace everything, then save.
Always read the diff before saving — a quick human glance never hurts.
